LA's Gigi Callejas Goes Undefeated at West Coast Women's Stop

Los Angeles player Gigi Callejas took down the second stop of The West Coast Women’s Tour without dropping a match, according to AZBilliards. The double-elimination event drew 28 competitors, most coming out of the San Francisco Bay and Sacramento areas, and was hosted at Racks N Cues in Windsor, California.

Callejas earned a first-round bye, then worked through a field of seasoned tour regulars to lock up the hot seat. From there she closed it out against Khanh Ngo — a multiple-time tour stop winner herself — to take the title clean.

The defending stop #1 champion, Donna Bulanadi, wasn’t in the field this time around, which left the door open. Callejas walked through it and didn’t look back.

Tour director Cony Mendoza told AZBilliards she was pleased with how the event came together, pointing to the loyalty of the players who keep showing up and supporting the circuit as the thing she’s most proud of. That kind of table culture — people investing in a regional tour week after week — is exactly what keeps competitive pool alive at every level.

Women’s pool is moving in the right direction out here on the West Coast. Good to see.
